We currently provide energy for all communal areas, such as stairways and outside lighting – this is paid for by you as part of your service charge.

The energy pricing market is constantly increasing and subject to hikes. So, we want to change the way we buy this energy to help you save money, providing you with better value.

When entering new agreements that are for a period of more than a year, we follow a consultation process (as required by the Landlord & Tenant Act 1985, Section 20), which takes time to do.

However, due to the changing market, and to achieve the best price, we need to quickly select and fix a contract with a supplier. We propose to do this through an agency that will test the market to get the best deal using the summer prices currently on offer. Due to this, are unable to undertake a full consultation with you.

Instead, we are applying to the First Tier Tribunal (Property Chamber) for permission to continue to sign up to new energy contracts without formal consultation so that we can secure the best energy price for you.
