We want to encourage responsible pet ownership and we will not unreasonably withhold consent for you to keep household pets. However if your pet causes nuisance to your neighbours or any person employed by Black Country Housing Group or any person carrying out lawful activity in or around the locality of your home on behalf of Black Country Housing Group, we may revoke our permission and ask you to re-home the pet or terminate your tenancy.
General conditions in which consent will be given:
1.You are living in a house or a bungalow with a private garden and the boundaries are sufficient to keep a pet from escaping
2.If living in a flat or a bungalow with shared gardens and you are disabled or supported by a guide dog for the blind or other sensory disability
3.You can take full responsibility to look after the pet. Please refer to clauses relating to anti-social behaviour
4.Your pet is signed up with a vet or PDSA
5.The are no other breaches of tenancy that could be made worse by keeping a pet. For example, you are not looking after your property, you are involved in a dispute with a neighbour or you are not paying your rent.
General conditions in which consent will not be given:
1. The pet is a farm animal
2. The pet is considered dangerous
3. You live in a flat with communal access or gardens and do not require the pet to help with disability
If in any doubt please arrange to speak with a member of the Housing team or Scheme Manager before making any decisions. Then put your request in writing via our website and we will not unreasonably withhold consent.
