Will I be able to own the freehold?
This depends on the type of property you own. If you own a property that has no shared common areas that has no service charges, if you staircase to 100% you will own the freehold. If the property you own has shared areas that have service charges, such as a flat, then the property will always be a leasehold property. Please note that some houses will still be subject to a service charge even when 100% is owned (for example, if there is estate wide gardening that all properties are liable for), and there will be a charge in the land registry for this. If this is the case, you will still have to pay the service charge to us.
